Board Retreats: By using a facilitator to run a board retreat, it allows the staff to hear the discussion regarding programs and to lend insights without being on the spot to deliver. Additionally, the staff can be invited to step out or discussions if the board feels the need for an executive session. A facilitator can drill down into topics without being in jeopardy of loosing their job while lending examples of possible solutions.
Staff Retreats: Many times a staff retreat is viewed as a day away from the office in which much gets discussed but not necessarily accomplished. However, properly done a staff retreat can be very productive and can be a good goal setting opportunity.
Facilitators: The use of a facilitator has many benefits including a summary when the day is over that assist you in knowing all the points that were discussed and the decisions that were made in the process or a retreat.
